These have been a great addition. They aren't cheap, but my lower back feels so much better since I started wearing them. I walk 18 holes at least twice a week, and the tightness and back pain are gone. I used to seize up around hole 12, but that doesn't happen anymore with these shorts.
The pair I received was too small, so I sent it back over a week ago and I'm still waiting on the replacement.

They went on pretty easily. I'm 6ft, 175 lbs and picked up the medium. Comfort and support were both excellent. I wasn't sure how far to wind the cables, but the pressure feels nice and even. Did some lifting and treadmill work today and felt supported the whole time — way better than an average compression short. I'll update once I've tried them for golf and pickleball.
CanadaI just got back from a 3-day golf trip (Belleville, Ontario — worth doing at least once). I'm a 55-year-old guy with serious hip and lower-back problems.
I played 3 rounds in 3 days and was almost pain-free the whole weekend. I normally can't get through 9 holes, and the pain wrecks my swing. These shorts have turned my golf season around — I can play more often and still walk the next day.
I'm even thinking about getting back into hockey, because they keep my core as solid as it was when I was 20.
I'd recommend these to anyone dealing with hip or lower-back pain. If there's something you've stopped enjoying because of that kind of pain, try the shorts — you'll be back doing what you love.
CanadaI first came across a Stoko ad and wanted to see what the shorts were all about. The technology caught my eye — the wires, the support, the dials and the compression. It also helped that this is a Canadian company with a 30-day return window. I'm a senior who now plays tennis year-round, indoors and out, usually 2 hours at a time, 2-3 times a week. All that back-and-forth eventually tires out my lower back, especially once I stop.
The Stoko shorts have really helped relieve that lower-back fatigue during and after matches. After more than 7 months of use, my mobility during play has actually improved, and the dial adjustments make it even better. I do need to tighten the dials during a game because of the constant movement, and it's best to release the tension afterward. As other reviews note, the dials can pinch the lower back when sitting, but that's to be expected. Overall they've worked great for my sport and, although pricey, were worth the investment.

We really encourage you to test your Supportive Apparel before deciding to send it back — move in it, get sweaty, and give it everything you've got. There's a short break-in period with your Supportive Tights, which means it takes a little time before they settle in and feel comfortable on your body. They can be demanding at first and take some getting used to, since Supportive Apparel is very different from any tights or braces you've tried before.
